Welcome, and thank you for visiting Andreia Fortes Counselling. I am a counsellor providing both short- and long-term therapy in Bolton, near Manchester & Wigan and online.
Hello and welcome! Well done for starting on this journey of becoming the best version of yourself. My name is Andreia Fortes, my pronouns are she/her, I am a qualified Counsellor with two masters degree in counselling and Positive Psychology. I believe that the relationship between the counsellor and client is key to the success of the counselling.
I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental approach. I also offer clients a safe environment to explore their concerns, with confidentiality underpinning all communications. I believe that we all have the capability within us to change direction and to overcome problems, but sometimes we need support and a helping hand to enable us to recognise our potential.
As a professional, I am really passionate about the field I work within and continuing professional development. Besides being a professional counsellor, I am a friendly human being, with a multi-cultural background, who appreciates nature and animals and is genuinely interested in people and their uniqueness, respecting diversity of cultures, beliefs and lifestyles. My personal values include integrity, trust, compassion, learning and personal development.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and my personal values are closely matched with those of BACP Ethical Framework. You can also find me listed on the Counselling Directory.
I am passionate about my job. Helping others is my calling, and I want to make a positive difference in my clients' lives.
Reaching out can be difficult. Maybe you feel stuck, anxious, unsettled, lost your way, or uncomfortable with whom you have become. The difficulties within our lives can change who we are or how we see the world. It can lead to thoughts or behaviours that take us away from who we are, resulting in a feeling of something not being right, struggling to cope or to make sense of things.
When entering therapy, our life experiences enter too, and healing occurs within the processing. We will work together to build trust and explore your emotions and thoughts within a non-judgemental and safe environment, working at your own pace.
I am an integrative counsellor who offers person-centred approach as a core in my therapeutic work. Using a Person-Centred approach, I support clients to find clarity, recognise choices and strengthen resilience in an insightful, thoughtful, and accepting way.
My additional training and experience allow me to integrate other useful therapeutic approaches into our sessions, to meet your individual needs.
